INdAM–GNAMPA Project 2026

From 15 January 2026 to 31 December 2026, the INdAM–GNAMPA Project 2026 Modelli non locali in fluidodinamica, traffico ed elasticità (Nonlocal Models in Fluid Dynamics, Traffic and Elasticity) will be conducted with funding from the Gruppo Nazionale per l’Analisi Matematica, la Probabilità e le loro Applicazioni (GNAMPA) of the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica “Francesco Severi” (INdAM), CUP: E53C25002010001.

Principal Investigator: Nicola De Nitti.

Team Members: Luigi Carlo Berselli (UniPI), Giuseppe Maria Coclite (PoliBA), Francesco Maddalena (PoliBA), Dian Kostadinov Palagachev (PoliBA).

Short Project Description: The project focuses on the mathematical analysis of nonlocal models arising in several applied sciences. Such models naturally capture finite-range interactions, memory effects, and multiscale phenomena that are not adequately described by local partial differential equations. The research is organized around the systematic study of singular limits connecting nonlocal formulations to their local counterparts, with particular attention to nonlocal traffic models, large-eddy simulation models for turbulent flows, and peridynamic theories in elasticity.
